Chaperone Policy for Minors

IELTS chaperone policy for minors

As part of British Council’s Safeguarding policy, we provide a chaperone for all minors who take the IELTS test with us.  A minor is defined as anyone under 18 years of age.

Please note that the following arrangements will be in place on test day for all minors:

  • A chaperone will greet you at registration and walk you through the registration process until you get to your seat in the test room.

  • Your chaperone will escort you to the washroom or anywhere else you need to go on test day.

  • Your chaperone will wait with you until your speaking test.  The chaperone will sit inside your speaking test room while you take your test with the examiner.

  • At the end of the test day, if you have permission from your parent or guardian to leave the test venue on your own, your chaperone will escort you to the exit of the test venue.  If you do not have permission to wait on your own, your chaperone will wait with you until your parent or guardian arrives.

If you have any questions about the chaperone program, please contact us.
